Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev factually observing: “I will only say one thing, something that is already so obvious: the Russian Federation is not at war with Ukraine, not with the Ukrainian half-Nazi or Nazi regime – our country is at war with a 3.6 million strong NATO army…They are participating, of course, in such a hybrid conflict, and they, in fact, no longer hide it”, says about the war he assessed: “Comparing the strength of the Russian and American militaries is pointless…The consequences of a nuclear war would be monstrous and make it impossible to say which army was the first and which second…The prowess of a military force is measured by the outcomes of its campaigns”, then he issued an alert warning to the entire world: “If we talk about some sort of serious offensive that is associated with an attempt to retake Crimea, it is quite obvious that this is the basis for the use of all means of protection, including those provided for by the fundamentals of the Doctrine of Nuclear Deterrence, when the use of any types of weapons against Russia threatens the existence of the state itself…It doesn’t mean that this will happen, but the horsemen of the apocalypse continue to move”.

Most certainly not wanting peace, this report continues, is American adviser Dan Rice to Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who yesterday proclaimed: “The Ukrainian military is poised to unleash a massive offensive against Russian troops in the coming weeks that will shock the world”—a comical proclamation followed this morning by Ukraine President Vladimir Zelensky more soberly declaring: “We can’t start yet…We can’t send our brave soldiers to the front line without tanks, artillery and multiple launch rocket systems”—a declaration that followed the news: “The stock of willing volunteers now appears to be dwindling…Ukraine’s population is less than one-third the size of Russia’s, not accounting for the exodus of millions since the war began…There have been public scandals involving inappropriate call-ups and videos appearing to show men being roughed up by enlistment officers for refusing a summons…A disabled person was drafted in western Ukraine and pronounced fit for service despite having no hands…Another died on the front lines within a month of mobilization after 10 days of training”—this week it saw President Zelensky demanding that socialist Western colonial leaders rapidly increase the supply of modern weapons to his forces—a demand joined by the leftist New York Times article “From Rockets to Ball Bearings, Pentagon Struggles to Feed War Machine”, wherein it documents it will take years and decades to replace the weapons already given to Ukraine—and as to the fate of the hundreds-of-billions of dollars worth of Western weapons already given to Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) reports: “Since the start of the special military operation, Russian military forces have destroyed in Ukraine the following Western supplied weapons: 404 aircraft, 224 helicopters, 3,562 unmanned aerial vehicles, 414 anti-aircraft missile systems, 8,392 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,072 combat vehicles of multiple launch rocket systems, and 4,424 field guns and mortars, as well as 9,091 special military vehicles”.

The last generations of Byzantines had inherited a global reputation and standard of living that they themselves no longer earned.

We should take heed from the last generations of the Byzantines.

Nowhere is it foreordained that America has a birthright to remain the world’s preeminent civilization.

An ascendant China seems eerily similar to the Ottomans. Beijing believes that the United States is decadent, undeserving of its affluence, living beyond its means on the fumes of the past—and very soon vulnerable enough to challenge openly.

Left and Right seem to hate each other more than they do their common enemies.

Like the Byzantines, Americans gave up defending their own borders, and simply shrugged as millions overran them as they pleased.

Our once iconic downtowns, like end-stage Constantinople before the fall, are now dirty, half-deserted, dangerous, and dysfunctional.

America prints rather than makes money, as its banks totter near bankruptcy.

Americans similarly believe they are invincible without ensuring in reality that they are. Our military is more worried about being “woke” than deadly.

Like Byzantines, Americans have become snarky iconoclasts, more eager to tear down art and sculpture that they no longer have the talent to create.

Current woke dogma, obscure word fights, and sanctimonious cancel culture are as antithetical to the past generations of World War II as the last generation of Constantinople was to the former great eras of the emperors Constantine, Justinian, Heraclius, and Leo.

The Byzantines never woke up in time to understand what they had become.

So far, neither have Americans.
