Yesterday, a friend wrote to me that the New Madrid Fault line had a small earthquake. It was 3.1 on the Richter Scale, and 7 miles deep. Now, I know that sounds insignificant. But I thought that the readers should know the history behind New Madrid fault zone.

I read this piece this morning from a Missouri website which tracks movement on the New Madrid:
“An updated USGS report says the New Madrid Seismic Zone has a larger range of potential earthquake magnitudes than previously imagined.

“If we have a cataclysmic event in the New Madrid Fault, Butler County will be severely affected,” Shawan said. “Eastern Butler County is part of the liquefaction zone, and we know the destruction there will be extreme. However, destruction in western Butler County will be significant as well.
Could It Happen Here? Tsunamis
The historical record of tsunamis along the U.S. west coast consists mainly of teletsunamis generated by large earthquakes around the Pacific Rim. Of the teletsunamis that have struck the West Coast, the 1964 Gulf of Alaska tsunami caused the most extensive damage, particularly in Crescent City, CA, where at least 10 deaths occurred. Potentially tsunamigenic fault structures exist locally offshore the U.S. west coast, most notably the Cascadia subduction zone—an offshore fault system about 1,200 km (750 mi) long that extends from northern California to southern Canada and accommodates motion between the Pacific and North American tectonic plates at a rate of about 40 mm/yr (1.6 in./yr). This subduction zone is believed to have most recently ruptured in a magnitude 9.0 earthquake in 1700; the resulting tsunami was recorded in historical accounts in northern Japan. Geologic evidence of submerged vegetation indicates that large or great earthquakes (magnitude 8 to 9) have occurred on average every 500 years along this zone. Great ruptures along this subduction zone would most likely cause local and possibly oceanwide tsunamis that could affect the Western United States.

A tsunami is a set of powerful ocean waves most commonly caused by a large earthquake or landslide that occurs near or under the ocean. Scientists do not use the term “tidal wave” because these waves are not caused by tides. Tsunami waves are unlike typical ocean waves generated by wind and storms. When tsunami waves approach shore, they behave like a very fast-moving tide that extends far inland. A rule of thumb is that if you see the tsunami, it is already too late to outrun it. Most tsunamis do not “break” like the curling, wind-generated waves popular with surfers. Even “small” tsunamis (for example, 6 ft high) are associated with extremely strong currents, capable of knocking people off their feet. As with many natural phenomena, tsunamis can range in size from micro-tsunamis detectable only by sensitive instruments on the ocean floor to mega-tsunamis that can affect the coastlines of entire oceans, such as the Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004.

Water pollution is a major global problem which requires ongoing evaluation and revision of water resource policy at all levels (international down to individual aquifers and wells). It has been suggested that water pollution is the leading worldwide cause of deaths and diseases, and that it accounts for the deaths of more than 14,000 people daily. An estimated 580 people in India die of water pollution related illness every day. About 90 percent of the water in the cities of China is polluted. As of 2007, half a billion Chinese had no access to safe drinking water.[5] In addition to the acute problems of water pollution in developing countries, developed countries also continue to struggle with pollution problems. For example, in the most recent national report on water quality in the United States, 45 percent of assessed stream miles, 47% of assessed lake acres, and 32 percent of assessed bays and estuarine square miles were classified as polluted. The head of China’s national development agency said in 2007 that one quarter the length of China’s seven main rivers were so poisoned the water harmed the skin.

Water is typically referred to as polluted when it is impaired by anthropogenic contaminants and either does not support a human use, such as drinking water, or undergoes a marked shift in its ability to support its constituent biotic communities, such as fish. Natural phenomena such as volcanoes, algae blooms, storms, and earthquakes also cause major changes in water quality and the ecological status of water.

Former top government officials who have been warning Washington about the vulnerability of the nation’s largely unprotected electric grid are raising new fears that troops from the jihadist Islamic State are poised to attack the system, leading to a power crisis that could kill millions.

“Inadequate grid security, a porous U.S.-Mexico border, and fragile transmission systems make the electric grid a target for ISIS,” said Peter Pry, one of the nation’s leading experts on the grid.

Others joining Pry at a press conference later Wednesday to draw attention to the potential threat said that if just a handful of the nation’s high voltage transformers were knocked out, blackouts would occur across the country.

Jim Bakker and Rick Wiles got together this week to discuss the usual matters, such as their impending imprisonment during the coming civil war and God’s use of Muslim “avengers” to murder Americans as punishment for the legalization of abortion.

But Bakker saw the bright side to this coming chaos, telling viewers to buy his survivalist food so they can still “have parties when the world is coming apart.” Bakker’s prepper food items, like a $960 bucket of pancakes or a $250 pizza bucket, will come in handy in the post-apocalyptic cities that the televangelist predicts will be ravaged by gangs who will be “eating bodies of the people they kill.”
The prediction of America’s descent into cannibalism was only one of many paranoid claims made during Bakker’s interview with Wiles. The two also agreed that the Supreme Court’s ruling on gay marriage “sealed” America’s destruction.

If events come to your neighborhood and conflict erupts nearby, don’t rush into the middle of it. That’s a great way to get killed, and your family killed also (they’re dependent on you keeping a level-head and staying alive).
So at the first sign or sound of chaos coming to your community, take a step back, find a place of concealment, and survey the situation.

What you’re going to see is anarchy. These people causing mayhem have been waiting for this moment all their lives. These people are evil and all they want to do is hurt and maim and kill.

Be in prayer about that — the Bible calls us to love our enemies but it also calls us to protect the weak, care for the sick, help the needy. Look to God in prayer — maybe he’s calling you go to the aid of that person who needs help — or maybe he’s not. If you’re one man with just one gun and you’re facing a mob of 50 men that is terrorizing a family — What can you do?
